Food Intolerance Diet
I am often consulted about symptoms related to suspected food intolerance and I offer a number of ways of identifying suspect foods.
Blood Test for food intolerance (IgG antibodies test)
In some cases, food intolerance testing that measures IgG in the blood can result in a large number of suspect foods beng eliminated from the diet, some of which may not have caused any symptoms, leaving the person with an unnecessarily restricted diet.
Few foods elimination test diet for food intolerance
There is another way to test for food intolerance. The most reliable test available for detecting food intolerance requires the keeping of a food diary, whilst following an elimination diet, with a follow up challenge of test foods.
This step-by-step approach has been developed and tested in clinical practice. A restricted diet, of a very few of the least allergenic foods is followed for no more than two weeks to eliminate symptoms and then test foods are added back into the diet in a specific sequence to identify the food or foods which cause symptoms.
Then a diet can be developed which eliminates the problem foods and supplies adequate and balanced nutrition from alternative sources.
