Practitioner profile

Originally a chemist I became interested in herbal medicine as I learned about the chemistry of plants.  I wanted to learn more and spent four years training to be a medical herbalist.  I studied herbal medicine with the College of Phytotherapy, accredited by the University of Wales, and qualified with a BSc degree, with honours, in phytotherapy (herbal medicine) in 2002, and subsequently joined the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy.   (from phyto meaning plant)apple

As nutrition is often an important part of the treatment plan I studied Nutritional Medicine with the University of Surrey and received a postgraduate diploma with Merit.  This course is designed for medical graduates and builds on a fundamental understanding of nutritional science, providing the latest research findings for the prevention and treatment of dysfunction and disease by nutritional means.  The course is approved by the General Medical Council, and is the only university-level course in Nutritional Medicine in the UK.

Both the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy only allow fully qualified practitioners to join.  Therefore to ensure you are consulting someone who is properly trained look for the abbreviations MNIMH or MCPP after your practitioners name.  Or contact the relevant organisations.

I see patients from a wide surrounding area.  I offer free 10 minute telephone consultations to discuss how herbal medicine may be able to help you.
